University of Orléans

Christophe Rault is currently a Full Professor of Economics (Professeur des Universités de Classe Exceptionnelle, Agrégé de l'Enseignement Supérieur) at the University of Orléans in France. He received his Master and his Ph.D. in economics from the University of Paris 1, Panthéon-Sorbonne, and his Habilitation Thesis to supervise PhD students (H.D.R.) from the University of Evry Val d'Essonne.

His affiliated research group is LEO (Laboratoire d’Economie d’Orléans, CNRS UMR 7322) of the University of Orléans. He has also been a Research Network Fellow of the Center for Economic Studies (CESifo), Munich since 2007, a Research Fellow of the Institute for the Study of Labor (IZA), Bonn since 2003, and a Research Fellow of the William Davidson Institute, University of Michigan, Ann Arbor since 2007. Broadly speaking, Prof. Rault works in the field of theoretical and applied econometrics with a focus on time series and panel data. The key feature of his research is an emphasis on both theoretical and empirical aspects. Specifically, his theoretical interests include statistical modelling of stationary and non-stationary economic time series, and panel data, as well as non-causality, exogeneity, in cointegrated time series, and panel data models. Moreover, his applied research focuses on various economic topics such as Energy and Environmental Economics (carbon dioxide emissions, energy consumption, environmental quality, the environmental Kuznets curve, oil prices), Labour Economics and International Macroeconomics (relationships between productivity and working hours, Phillips curve, WS-PS model, employment, unemployment dynamics, inflation, minimum wage, exchange rates and regimes), and Transition Economics (purchasing power parity, Balassa-Samuelson hypothesis, long-run determinants of real exchange rates, trade and enlargement to the European Union).

He has published over 70 theoretical, empirical and policy papers in English or French in peer-referred academic journals listed in the CNRS Journal Ranking in Economics and Management, including Applied Economics, Economics Letters, Ecological Economics, Economic Modelling, Energy Economics, Energy Policy, International Journal of Finance and Economics, International Review of Financial Analysis, Oxford Bulletin of Economics and Statistics, Oxford Economic Papers, Journal of Comparative Economics, Journal of Economic Integration, Journal of Economic Surveys, the Journal of Economic History, Journal of Quantitative Economics, Review of World Economics, and the World Economy, among others.
