Lisa Cameron is a Professorial Research Fellow at the Melbourne Institute of Applied Economic and Social Research at the University of Melbourne, Australia. She is an empirical micro-economist and development economist who is particularly interested in the welfare of disadvantaged and marginalised groups. Her work in this area includes analyses of poverty and wellbeing in Asia (predominantly Indonesia and China) and Australia, evaluations of social welfare programs and gender inequality. Her research often incorporates the techniques of experimental economics.

Lisa's work has been published in many peer-reviewed journals including Science, Quarterly Journal of Economics, Review of Economics and Statistics, Economic Journal, Journal of Public Economics, Journal of Development Economics, Journal of International Economics and Experimental Economics.

She graduated with a PhD in economics from Princeton University in 1996. She is an Affiliated Professor of MIT's Abdul Latif Jameel Poverty Action Lab (J-PAL) and an elected Fellow of the Australian Academy of Social Sciences. She joined IZA as a Research Fellow in February 2012.
