Matti Sarvimäki is Associate Professor of Economics at Aalto University and Associate Research Professor at the VATT Institute for Economic Research. He studies migration, social mobility, education, the labor market impacts of international trade and household finance.

Sarvimäki gained his doctorate from the Helsinki School of Economics in 2009. He has been a researcher at the London School of Economics and a visiting researcher at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and University College London.

Matti Sarvimäki joined IZA as a Research Fellow in March 2018.
