Esther Mirjam is a Senior Lecturer (Advanced Assistant Professor) at the University of Technology Sydney. Prior to joining UTS she worked as a postdoctoral research fellow at the University of Lausanne. She holds a PhD in Economics from the European University Institute.
Esther Mirjam’s research interests are in labour, development and family economics with a focus on public policies. Her recent and on-going work studies education decisions, labour markets and migration in West Africa. She also conducts research on domestic violence, parental leave policies and vocational education in high-income countries. Her research has been published in The Economic Journal and Labour Economics, among others.
Esther Mirjam joined IZA as a Research Affiliate in November 2014 and became a Research Fellow in December 2023.
