Giovanni Sulis is an Associate Professor of Economics at the University of Cagliari, Sardinia, Italy.

He was awarded a Master in Economics from the University of Turin and a PhD in Economics from the University of Essex.

His research interests are in labor economics: he has previously worked on gender differentials and equilibrium search models, and he is currently working on the effects of labor institutions on productivity and investment. Recently, he has also written on migration, policy evaluation, and education issues. His papers appeared in journals such as the European Economic Review, Economic Policy, Labour Economics, Journal of Comparative Economics and Journal of Population Economics.

He was visiting scholar at the University of Edinburgh, Georgetown University, the University of Hawaii, The University of New South Wales, and the Center for Labor Economics, University of California, Berkeley.

He joined IZA as a Research Fellow in April 2015.
