Toshiaki Tachibanaki

Toshiaki Tachibanaki is Professor of Economics at the Kyoto Institute of Economics, Kyoto University, and Director of the Millenium Project on Aging at the Economic Planning Agency. He received his Ph.D. in Economics from Johns Hopkins University in 1973.

He is the author of several books, including "Capital and Labour in Japan: The Functions of two Factor Markets" (Routledge, with A. Taki, 2000), "Economic Effects of Trade Unions in Japan" (Macmillan Press, with T. Noda, 2000) and "Wage Determination and Distribution in Japan" (Oxford
University Press, 1996). He has published extensively in journals such as International Economic Review, Review of Economics and Statistics, Journal of Public Economics, Nihon Rodo Kyokai Zasshi, European Economic Review and Financial Review.

Professor Tachibanaki is currently Associate Editor of Labor Economics and Economics of Education Review and a Commitee Member of the Permanent Steering Committee of the Applied Econometric Studies Conference at Biwako, Japan.

His research interests cover labor economics, public and financial economics, applied econometrics, economic theory and the Japanese economy.

He joined IZA as a Research Fellow in December 2000.
