Kasey Buckles

Kasey Buckles is the Brian and Jeannelle Brady Associate Professor of Economics at the University of Notre Dame. She is also a Research Associate with the National Bureau of Economic Research and a faculty affiliate of the Lab for Economic Opportunities. She currently serves as a co-editor of the Journal of Policy Analysis and Management.

Buckles’ research focuses on the economics of the family, economic demography, and child health and well-being. In recent work, she has investigated the effects of birth spacing and birth order on child well-being, as well as the effects of public policies on marriage, fertility, and adoption.

She has received funding from the National Science Foundation and the National Institutes of Health. Her work has appeared in economics journals including the Economic Journal, the Review of Economics and Statistics, the Journal of Policy Analysis and Management, and the Journal of Human Resources, and has been covered by media outlets including the BBC, CNN, ABC and NBC news, the Wall Street Journal, the Financial Times, and the New York Times.

Kasey joined IZA as a Research Fellow in March 2016.
