Erkki Koskela is the Academy professor in Finland and did his PhD thesis in Helsinki in 1976. He was nominated for the current public economics professor in 1981 in the University of Helsinki. After finishing his PhD thesis he has visited as a researcher among others the USA (Princeton University and Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University), England (London School of Economics), Germany (CESifo in Munich, Magdeburg University, Free University Berlin) and Sweden (University of Uppsala, University of Umeå and University of Gothenburg). His research topics have been (i) public and labour economics, (ii) forest and environmental economics and (iii) research on economic policy.
He joined IZA as a Research Fellow in July 2003.
