Chiara Orsini currently holds a permanent academic appointment at the Department of Economics at the University of Sheffield, in addition to a visiting fellowship at the Department of Social Policy at the LSE, and an affiliation with the Ageing and Health Incentive Lab (AHIL) at the Department of Health Policy at the LSE.
Chiara obtained her PhD and MA in Economics from the University of Maryland at College Park and has previously held academic positions at the University of Maryland at College Park, Aarhus University, the University of Venice, and the LSE.
Her primary fields of interest are labor, health, and public economics and her research focuses on the determinants of health inequality by gender during the life course, the health consequences of economic crises, the determinants of mental health, and aging. More recent work looks at gender differences in work-related behavior and output, as well as the impact of climate shocks on health.
Chiara joined IZA as a research fellow in April 2024.
