Tim Callan is a former Research Professor at the Economic and Social Research Institute in Dublin, Ireland and adjunct professor at Trinity College Dublin. He is currently with Callan Economics, engaged in consultancy related to academic and policy research.

His main areas of interest are income tax and welfare policy, the labour market, income distribution and poverty. He has a particular interest in the design and application to policy issues of both static and dynamic tax-benefit models. He has published widely in journals such as the European Economic Review, Journal of Population Economics, Fiscal Studies, Journal of Economic Surveys, Journal of Economic Inequality and LABOUR.

His primary degree is from Trinity College Dublin and his doctorate is from the University of Oxford, where he studied at Nuffield College.

He joined IZA as a Research Fellow in September 2007.
