Mathias Sinning is a Professor of Economics at the Crawford School of Public Policy of the Australian National University (ANU). His research in applied econometrics focuses on issues related to treatment effect estimation and policy evaluation. He is particularly interested in the development and application of innovative methods to study heterogeneous treatment effects. He has published in various domains of economics, including public economics, labour economics, health economics, development economics and behavioural economics. His academic background includes previous appointments at the ANU and the University of Queensland, as well as Visiting Fellowships at Princeton University and Peking University. He is a Research Fellow of RWI Leibniz Institute for Economic Research and a Research Affiliate of MIT's Poverty Action Lab (J-PAL).
He joined IZA as a Research Affiliate in January 2007 and became a Research Fellow in April 2010.
