Tomáš Jagelka is an applied microeconometrician in the fields of labor economics and health economics with interests in structural estimation, experimental, and behavioral methods.  In 2024, he was awarded a €1.5 Million ERC Starting Grant for his project "FELICITAS" to study essential preferences, skills, and other personal attributes which matter for a good life.

Tomáš received his Ph.D. in economics from École Polytechnique - CREST in 2019 and his B.A. from Dartmouth College in 2011.

His current research focuses on improving the measurement of preferences and skills using structural econometric methods. The objective is to identify the number and nature of skills required to adequately characterize human potential. His work was recognized by the French Economic Association (Best PhD in economics defended in France in 2019), by the International Association for Applied Econometrics (Best paper presented by a PhD student), and most recently by the 14th annual Exeter Prize awarded to the most outstanding article published in a refereed journal in the previous calendar year from the following fields: experimental economics, decision theory and behavioral economics..

Tomáš is a member of the ECONtribute Cluster of Excellence, an IZA Research Affiliate, a CREST affiliate, and a Fellow of the Slovak Economic Association.
