Thijs van Rens is a professor of economics at the University of Warwick and a research affiliate at the Centre for Economic Policy Research (CEPR) in London. He studied economics at the University of Amsterdam and Princeton University, where he obtained his Ph.D. degree in June 2005. Thijs’s research interests are on the intersection of labor economics and macroeconomics, addressing questions why so many workers lose their jobs in a recession and why it takes such a long time before the unemployment rate goes down after the economy recovers.
He joined IZA as a Research Fellow in November 2007.
