Matthias Giesecke is a researcher in the division “labor markets, education and population” at RWI Essen, Germany. He studied economics at the Freie Universität Berlin and received his PhD (Dr. rer. pol.) from the Universität Duisburg-Essen in 2015. During his doctoral studies, he was awarded a three-year scholarship of the Ruhr Graduate School in Economics.
His research interests are labor economics and microeconometrics with a particular focus on the effects of social security incentives on labor supply of older workers, the relationship between mortality expectations and retirement decisions, and the dynamics of earnings.
