Michael C. Knaus is currently an Assistant Professor of Econometrics at the University of St. Gallen, Switzerland, where he also received his PhD in Economics and Finance with the specialization in Econometrics. Previously he obtained Bachelor and Master degrees in Economics from the University of Hohenheim, Germany.
Michael’s research interests are in applied econometrics with a focus on labor, health, education and sports economics. In particular he is interested in the combination of machine learning methods and causal inference to improve estimation in observational studies and to allow for systematic search for effect heterogeneity.
He joined IZA as a Research Affiliate in June 2017
