Christopher J. Blattman

Chris Blattman is the Ramalee E. Pearson Professor of Global Conflict Studies at The University of Chicago, in the Harris School of Public Policy. He studies ways to reduce poverty and violence in developing countries, and works mainly in Colombia, Liberia, Uganda, and Ethiopia.

He leads the Crime & Violence sector at MIT’s Poverty Action Lab (J-PAL) and the Peace & Recovery program at Innovations for Poverty Action (IPA).

Dr. Blattman was previously faculty at Columbia University and Yale University, and holds a PhD in Economics from the University of California at Berkeley and a Master’s in Public Administration and International Development (MPA/ID) from the Harvard Kennedy School.

Chris Blattman joined IZA as a Research Fellow in March 2016.
