Jody Sindelar, Ph.D., is Professor and Chair, Division of Health Policy and Administration, Yale School of Public Health, and has an appointment at the Institution for Social and Policy Studies at Yale. She is also a Research Associate at the National Bureau of Economic Research (NBER). She has both a BA and PhD in Economics from Stanford University. Professor Sindelar has been President of the American Society of Health Economists (ASHEcon) and currently serves on several advisory and editorial boards. Previously, she taught at the University of Chicago and was the inaugural visiting faculty member at the Bing Center for Health Economics at Rand Corp. Professor Sindelar has published widely on health and labor issues, including health and earnings; gender differences in earnings; economics of health habits including tobacco price elasticity; health over the life-cycle; and health care markets. Professor Sindelar's current research is in the area of behavioral economics as applied to health habits; she is currently undertaking a large, randomized field study that provides financial incentives to encourage low-income smokers to quit smoking. Professor Sindelar has been the Principal Investigator on multiple grants funded by private foundations and the National Institutes of Health in the U.S.

She joined IZA as a Research Fellow in April 2012.
