Mircea Trandafir is Senior Researcher in the Rockwool Foundation Research Unit (RFF) and a Research Fellow at IZA.
Before joining RFF, he was an associate professor in the Department of Economics at the University of Southern Denmark, and prior to that a member of the Department of Economics at Université de Sherbrooke. He received his B.A. in Finance and Banking from the Academy of Economic Studies (Bucharest, Romania) in 2000, his M.A. in Economics from Central European University (Budapest, Hungary) in 2002, and his Ph.D. in Economics from the University of Maryland, College Park in 2009. His primary research interests are in applied microeconomics, particularly at the intersection of labor and health economics. His recent work looks into the returns to medical treatments, particularly early in life, and the links between health and the labor market.
He joined IZA as a Research Fellow in November 2014.
