Michèle Belot is Professor of Economics at Cornell University. Her research interests are broadly in applied microeconomics, with a special interest in experimental work and areas related to labour, health and education. Her recent work consists mainly of designing and testing interventions using randomized controlled trials, in the domains of health and job search. She is the current President of the European Association of Labour Economists. She has published in journals such as the Review of Economic Studies, the Review of Economics and Statistics, the Journal of Health Economics, Proceedings of the National Academy of Science and The Economic Journal.

She received her PhD in Economics from Tilburg University in 2003 and has held previous academic positions at the University of Essex, the University of Oxford. the University of Edinburgh and the European University Institute,

She joined IZA as a Research Fellow in March 2016.
