Mission and Vision

We provide impartial knowledge and serve as the hub of the world’s largest research network in labor economics

The IZA Institute is a platform dedicated to fundamental research, promoting young talent, scientific policy advice, and the active transfer of current knowledge. It operates with a network of distinguished labor and behavioral economists globally and a core team of researchers in Bonn, Germany, associated with the Department of Economics at the University of Bonn. Our objective is to bridge the divide between science and society through science communication and evidence-based policy advice. In our research, we focus on understanding economic inequality, particularly the central role of labor markets and the psychological underpinnings of human behavior. Established in 1998 by the Deutsche Post Foundation, our Bonn office serves as the hub of our worldwide network.
