Phoebe W. Ishak

Phoebe W. Ishak is an Economist at the World Bank and Latin America and the Caribbean Gender Innovation Lab (LACGIL). Prior to that, she was a post-doctoral researcher at Aix-Marseille School of Economics (AMSE) and Freie Universität Berlin. She holds a PhD in Economics from Universität Hamburg.

Phoebe’s research interests include Gender, Labour and Natural Resources Economics, and are focused on the economies of developing countries in Africa, Latin America, and the MENA region.  Her work has been published in Journal of Economic Behavior and Organization, World Development, Economic Development and Cultural Change, Energy Economics, and Economics & Politics. 

She joined IZA as a Research Affiliate in March 2022 and is also a Research Fellow at the Economic Research Forum (ERF).
