Martin Foureaux Koppensteiner is Associate Professor at the University of Surrey. His areas of specialization include labor economics, development economics and the economics of crime. In the past he analysed peer effects in education, the economics of violence against women, the effect of financial inclusion on household poverty, and the effect of improving access to education on underage fertility among other topics.
His current research includes an overarching project on the cost of crime in Brazil. To date, he has analysed the effect of exposure to violence on birth outcomes and on human capital accumulation and he is currently working on a number of additional papers on the economic cost of crime and violence.
Martin received his MSc in Economics from University College London and his PhD in Economics from Queen Mary University of London.
He joined IZA as a Research Affiliate in October 2018.
