Henri Sneessens is currently Professor Emeritus at the Université catholique de Louvain, Louvain-la-Neuve, Belgium.
He studied in Louvain and Princeton, and holds a PhD in Economics from Louvain (1980). He was successively lecturer at the London School of Economics (1980-1982), professor at the Université catholique de Lille (1982-1985), professor at the Université catholique de Louvain (1985-2009) and professor at the University of Luxembourg (2009-2018). His main research interests are economic policies and macroeconomic performance, with a special interest for labour market adjustment and unemployment persistence. He has published in European Economic Review, Economica, Journal of Economic Dynamics and Control, Labour Economics, and other journals.
He joined IZA as a Research Fellow in January 2001.
