Pieter Gautier is a professor at the VU University Amsterdam and Research Fellow at CEPR, IZA and the Tinbergen Institute. He obtained his Ph.D. from the VU University Amsterdam in September 1997. His previous affiliations include visiting positions at the Department of Economics of MIT, and Georgetown University. Among others, Pieter Gautier has published in the American Economic Review, Journal of the European Economic Association, European Economic Review, Review of Economic Sudies, and Review of Economics and Statistics, Review of Economic Dynamics and the International Economic Review. His current research interests includes, assignment models, directed search, search with heterogeneous agents, the marriage market, the housing market and external validity of experiments.

He joined IZA as a Research Fellow in September 2003.
