Vasil Yasenov

Vasil Yasenov is a Data Scientist at the Immigration Policy Lab at Stanford University. He received his PhD in Economics from UC Davis in June 2017.

He was born in Bulgaria and prior to moving to Davis, he received a Bachelor’s degree in Mathematics and Economics from the UC San Diego in 2012. In 2014 he held a brief summer appointment as a researcher in the Ministry of Labor and Public Policy in Sofia, Bulgaria.

His research interests are Labor Economics, Economics of Immigration, and Applied Econometrics. HIs academic work has focused on the impacts of immigration and the effect of school start time on academic performance.

Vasil joined IZA as a Research Affiliate in June 2016 and became an IZA Fellow in November 2021.
