Michael Kvasnicka is full Professor (W3) in Economics at Otto-von-Guericke-University Magdeburg. He is affiliated with the RWI – Leibniz Institute for Economic Research and a member of the Standing Field Committee for Population Economics (Bevölkerungsökonomischer Ausschuss) of the Verein für Socialpolitik. He received his PhD in economics (Dr. rer. pol.) in 2004 from Humboldt-University Berlin. Prior to his Ph.D., he has studied philosophy, politics, and economics at the University of Oxford and economics at University College London. Michael Kvasnicka is initiator and former president of the Berlin Network of Labor Market Research (BeNA). His research interests include applied labor, population and health economics, and policy evaluation.

His work has been published, among others, in the Economic Journal, the Journal of International Economics, the Journal of Health Economics, the Journal of Economic Geography, and the Journal of Urban Economics.

He joined IZA as a Research Fellow in November 2010.
