Thiago is a Departmental Lecturer in Development Economics at the University of Oxford. He is also affiliated with the Lab for Economics and Applied Philosophy (FGV LEAP), the Brazilian Center of Analysis and Planning (CEBRAP), and the Centre for the Study of African Economies (CSAE).

His research examines occupational choices, social protection mechanisms, and public administration in developing countries using field experiments and applied statistics.

He joined IZA as a Research Affiliate in March 2026.
