Ashok Mishra (Ph.D.) is Kemper and Ethel Marley Foundation Chair, Morrison School of Agribusiness in the WP Carey School of Business, at the Arizona State University, USA, where he conducts in the areas of labor and production economis, public policy, finance, food security, and livelihood strategies.

Dr. Mishra has partnered with the International Crops Research Institute for the Semi-Arid Tropics (ICRISAT) in India, International Maize and Wheat Improvement Center (CIMMYT) in Mexico, International Food Policy Research Institute (IFPRI), Washington DC and New Delhi. He is a Research Fellow at the International Rice Research Institute (IRRI) in the Philippines. Prior to joining ASU, he held positions at Louisiana State University (2007-2015), Economic Research Service, U. S. Department of Agriculture, in Washington DC (1997-2007) where he conducted research in policy, finance, household and labor economics, and survey analysis on U.S. farm sector and rural communities.

He received a Ph.D. in Economics at North Carolina State University (1996), an M.Sc. in Agricultural Economics at the University of Aberdeen, United Kingdom (1989). He is currently serving as Editor of Journal of Agribusiness in Developing and Emerging Economies (JADEE); Co-Editor of Agricultural Economics: An International Journal; he served as a (1) Co-editor of Applied Economic Perspectives and Policy (2011-2013); (2) associate editor of the Agricultural Finance Review journal (2010 to 2021); (3) co-editor of the Journal of Agricultural and Applied Economics (2007-2010); and (4) as a guest editor for Land Use Policy Journal, 2012.

Ashok Mishra joined IZA as a Research Fellow in June 2021.
