Steven J. Haider is an associate professor in the Department of Economics at Michigan State University. Prior to coming to Michigan State University, he was an associate economist at RAND. He received his A.B. from Washington University and his Ph.D. from the University of Michigan. Haider's research interests fall broadly within the field of labor economics, with past publications focusing on issues related to labor supply, the poor, and the elderly.

He joined IZA as a Research Fellow in March 2009.
