I am a Professor of Economics at Bar Ilan University and Royal Holloway, University of London, Current Editor-in-Chief of the European Economic Review and Founding Editor-in-Chief of the Journal of Economics, Management and Religion.

My previous academic appointments include the Hebrew University of Jerusalem, Tel Aviv University, Brown University and the University of Bristol. I completed a PhD in economics at New York University.

My research focuses on labor force dynamics, entrepreneurship and applied econometrics. I've published papers in Econometrica, the Journal of Political Economy, the Review of Economic Studies, the International Economic Review and the Journal of Labor Economics, amongst many other scientific journals.

In addition, I've published several books on the economics of immigration and the economics of religion as well as numerous essays and opinion pieces in the popular press on contemporary economic and social issues. I have also appeared on podcasts to discuss these writings.

I joined IZA as a Research Fellow in May 2004.
