Olga Shurchkov is a Professor of Economics at Wellesley College. She is a behavioral economist with an interest in studying the underpinnings of persistent gaps in labor market outcomes according to individual characteristics, such as gender, race, and appearance. Her other research interests include information, belief formation, dishonesty, and interactions on social media. Olga’s empirical methodology includes a mix of controlled online and field experiments, as well as surveys and observational data. Her work has been published in the Journal of the European Economic Association, Experimental Economics, Journal of Economic Behavior and Organization, and Games and Economic Behavior.
Olga is an associate editor at the Journal of Economic Behavior and Organization and is a member of the editorial board of Feminist Economics. She also serves on the Board of the Committee on the Status of Women in the Economics Profession (CSWEP). She received her PhD in Economics from Massachusetts Institute of Technology.
She joined IZA as a Research Fellow in April 2024.
