Jessica Brown is an Assistant Professor of Economics at the University of South Carolina’s Darla Moore School of Business. The primary focus of her research is on the economics of the child care market. She studies topics such as how changes in the policy and economic environment affect accessibility, affordability, and quality of early care and education in the U.S. She also has work on topics in the broader care economy and female labor force participation.
Jessica received her Ph.D. in Economics from Princeton University in 2019 and B.S. in mathematics and economics from the University of Notre Dame in 2011. Her work has been published in scholarly outlets such as the Journal of Labor Economics, Journal of Public Economics, and Journal of Health Economics and has been covered in the popular press in outlets such as the New York Times, Washington Post, and NPR’s Planet Money.
Jessica Brown joined IZA as a Research Fellow in April 2024.
