Pinar Mine Gunes is an Associate Professor of Economics at the University of Alberta.

She received her PhD from the University of Maryland, College Park in 2014. Her primary research areas are in development economics, labour and demographic economics, and health economics. Her research examines the role of public policies, particularly education and health policies, in socioeconomic outcomes that are important to policy makers, including labour force participation, human capital formation, fertility, and parental investment in children. Her research has been published in academic journals, such as Journal of Public Economics, Journal of Human Resources, and Labour Economics.

Pinar Mine Gunes joined IZA as a Research Fellow in October 2021.
