Paul Latreille is Professor of Management at The University of Sheffield. He obtained his BSc and PhD in Economics from Warwick University in 1987 and 1992 respectively and worked at Swansea University for more than 20 years, latterly as Professor of Economics. He is currently a visiting professor at Westminster Business School's Centre for Employment Research and was the ESRC Visiting Research Fellow at the Advisory, Conciliation and Arbitration Service (Acas) during 2008-9.

His research interests focus on workplace conflict and its management, including mediation/ADR and Employment Tribunals; disability and its impact on labour market outcomes; economic inactivity; the determinants and impact of vocational training; health and safety at work; and, more recently, self-employment. He has published extensively in a range of journals including Oxford Economic Papers, Oxford Bulletin of Economics and Statistics, Economics Letters, The Manchester School, Applied Economics, Industrial and Labor Relations Review, British Journal of Industrial Relations, Regional Studies, Social Science and Medicine, Industrial Law Journal, Industrial Relations Journal, Labour: Review of Labour Economics, Human Resource Management Journal and International Journal of Human Resource Management. He has also undertaken funded work for various external bodies including, inter alia, the Department for Business, Innovation and Skills, the Ministry of Justice, the Welsh Assembly Government, the Low Pay Commission, the Sector Skills Development Agency and Acas, and recently completed an Acas-funded project with Richard Saundry focusing on the introduction of a conflict management system in an NHS Trust.

He joined IZA as a Research Fellow in May 2010, and his Fellowship was extended for a third term in February 2019.
