Marion Mercier is a CNRS researcher at Université Paris-Dauphine, PSL Research University (France). Before joining Dauphine in 2017, she was a Marie Curie fellow at IRES - Université Catholique de Louvain (Belgium), and a post-doctoral fellow at the University of Brussels (Belgium). She completed her Ph.D. in 2014 at the Paris School of Economics and at DIAL - IRD, under the supervision of Thierry Verdier (PSE) and Lisa Chauvet (IRD). She is a former student of the Ecole Normale Supérieure de Cachan and University Paris 1 Panthéon-Sorbonne.


Her main fields of interest are development economics, migration and population, political economy and conflict, and social norms.


Marion Mercier joined IZA as a Research Affiliate in November 2013 and became a Research Fellow in December 2023.
