Julia Schmidtke works as a researcher at the Institute for Employment Research (IAB) in Nuremberg in the research department "Active Labour Market Policies and Integration". In 2024 she completed her PhD with her thesis titled "Essays in Labor and Health Economics" at the FAU Erlangen-Nuremberg.

Her research interests are in the field of labor economics and include the empirical analysis of job search processes during unemployment, unemployment benefit sanctions and subjective well-being.
