David Escamilla-Guerrero is an Assistant Professor of Economics at the University of St Andrews. He completed his Ph.D. at the London School of Economics (LSE) in 2020. During 2019-2020, David held the Rokos Junior Research Fellowship in Economics at Pembroke College, University of Oxford.

His research interests are at the intersection between economic history and labor economics, with a focus on North and Latin America. Currently, he is conducting research on Mexico-U.S. and Canada-U.S. immigration using individual border crossings. He is also exploring the impact of immigration on frontier economies.

He joined IZA as a Research Affiliate in May 2023.
