Simon is a Senior Researcher at the Institute for Employment Research (IAB) in Nuremberg. From 2020 - 2025 Simon has been a Post-Doctoral Researcher at IZA. He studied economics in Konstanz, Regensburg and Nuremberg with a longer research stay at Boston University. His research interests are in the field of labor economics with intersections to public economics and behavioral economics. He focuses on how Labor Market Policies- and Institutions operate in a frictional labor market and how these affect worker outcomes and inequality in particular related to job-loss, and how workers search for a new job during unemployment.
