Don J. DeVoretz

Don J. DeVoretz obtained his doctorate in Economics from the University of Wisconsin (Madison) in 1968. He was the co-director of the Centre of Excellence for the Study of Immigration (1996-2007) and Professor of Economics at Simon Fraser University (1968-2007). Dr. DeVoretz has held visiting appointments at Duke University, University of Ibadan (Nigeria), University of the Philippines, University of Wisconsin, and the Norwegian School of Economics. He was named the Willi Brandt Professor in 2004 at IMER, Malmö University.

Don DeVoretz's main research interests include the economic impact of citizenship on immigrant labor market outcomes and the brain circulation. He has published over 70 articles in various international publications.

In April 1998, Don DeVoretz joined IZA as a Research Fellow.
