Max Friedrich Steinhardt is professor at the John F. Kennedy Institute for North American Studies in Berlin. His previous professional experience includes working at the Helmut Schmidt University, the Hamburg Institute of International Economics (HWWI), Centro Studi Luca d’Agliano (LdA) in Milan, and the European Center for Advanced Research in Economics and Statistics (ECARES) in Brussels. He studied economics at the University of Hamburg. In 2009, he received his doctorate degree from the University of Hamburg. His research interests include labour economics, US economic policy, economics of migration, applied microeconomics and regional economics.

He joined IZA as a Research Fellow in August 2014.
