Panu Pelkonen is a Lecturer in Economics at University of Sussex. He has studied at University College London (PhD, 2009), University of Warwick (MSc, 2002) and University of Helsinki (MSocSc, 2001).
His other recent appointments include Department of Economics, University of Surrey (2009-2010) and Spatial Economics Research Centre (SERC), London School of Economics (2008-2009).
Panu's research interests focus primarily on Labour Economics and Economics of Education, but he is also working on topics in Political Economy and Development Economics. For his PhD, Panu has done extensive research on the compulsory school reform in Norway, carried out in the 1960s and the 1970s.
He joined IZA as a Research Fellow in October 2011.
