Johannes Koettl is a Senior Economist at the World Bank's Social Protection and Labor Global Practice in the Middle East, North Africa, Afghanistan, and Pakistan Region. He has been working on issues related to labor markets, migration, health, pensions, and social care and safety nets at the World Bank since 2004. Previously he completed an M.A. in International Relations at Johns Hopkins University's School of Advanced International Studies and a Ph.D. in Economics at the University of Vienna and the Institute for Advanced Studies (IHS) Vienna. His current work focuses - among other topics - on social and labor policies in the Gulf Cooperation Council Countries.
He joined IZA as a Research Fellow in May 2011.
