Matthias Wibral is Associate Professor at Maastricht University.

He was a postdoctoral fellow at the Institute for Applied Microeconomics and the Center for Economics and Neuroscience at the University of Bonn. He was a guest researcher at the University of Zurich and the Universitat Pompeu Fabra in Barcelona and received his Ph.D. from the University of Bonn in 2009. Previously, he studied economics at the University of Bonn and the University of California at Berkeley. His main research interests are behavioral economics and finance, as well as labor economics.

After working at IZA as a Resident Research Affiliate from 2005 to 2007, he remained in the IZA network as a Research Affiliate and became a Research Fellow in January 2013.
