David Escamilla-Guerrero is an Assistant Professor of Economics at the University of St Andrews. He completed his Ph.D. at the London School of Economics (LSE). Before joining St Andrews, David held the Rokos Junior Research Fellowship in Economics at Pembroke College, University of Oxford.
His research interests are at the intersection of labor economics, economic history, and development economics, with a focus on Latin America. Currently, David is conducting research on (1) the effect of local minimum wages on women's fertility and motherhood timing in Mexico; (2) the impact of US immigration restrictions on third-country economies; and (3) the short- and long-run effects of transportation infrastructure on Mexico-US migration.
He joined IZA as a Research Affiliate in May 2023.
