Diana Krüger received her Ph.D. in Economics from the University of Maryland in 2003. She has been Professor of Economics at the Adolfo Ibañez Business School in Viña del Mar, Chile since July, 2010, after working for 6 years at the Catholic University of Valparaiso (Chile). Her professional experience includes consultant positions with the World Bank and the Interamerican Development Bank.

Diana's research focuses on labor issues in developing countries (Latin America), with a particular interest in youth's transition from school to work, and the trade-off that exists between child work and schooling outcomes. She has recently studied the effects of school incacapacitation on youth motherhood and crime.

Her recent publications include "Risky behavior among youth: Incapacitation effects of school on adolescent motherhood and crime in Chile," with Matias Berthelon, published in the Journal of Public Economics, and "Child labor and schooling in Bolivia: Who’s Falling Behind? The roles of domestic work, gender and ethnicity," co-authored with with Daniela Zapata and Dante Contreras, published in World Development.

She joined IZA as a Research Fellow in November 2007.
