Bas van der Klaauw is professor of economics at the VU University Amsterdam and director of the Tinbergen Institute. Furthermore, he is affiliated with the CEPR. He obtained his Ph.D. from the VU University Amsterdam in May 2000. Among other things, Bas van der Klaauw has published in AEJ:Applied, Journal of the European Economic Association, Journal of Political Economy, Journal of Public Economics, and Journal of Labor Economics. His current research interests include empirical microeconometrics, job search and school choice.

He joined IZA as a Research Fellow in May 2004.
