Pinar Keskin is an Associate Professor of Economics at Wellesley College. She earned her Ph.D. in Economics from Yale University in 2009 and holds a B.A. in Economics from Bilkent University, Turkey. Prior to joining Wellesley College, Pinar served as a post-doctoral Fellow in the Sustainability Science Program at Harvard Kennedy School and spent one year as an Assistant Professor at Wesleyan University.
Pinar is an applied microeconomist, with research interests in development, health, and environmental economics. Her research primarily investigates three key areas: (i) the economic and social determinants of domestic violence and its intergenerational transmission; (ii) the factors influencing mental health outcomes; and (iii) economic responses to water scarcity and pollution in both developed and developing countries.
Pinar’s work has been published in numerous academic journals such as American Economic Journal: Applied Economics, American Economic Journal: Economic Policy, and the Review of Economics and Statistics and she currently serves as an associate editor at Economic Development and Cultural Change. In addition to her research, Pinar is committed to teaching and mentoring, guiding the next generation of economists to apply their skills in addressing significant social issues.
