Julia Bredtmann is a researcher at RWI - Leibniz Institute for Economic Research and a professor at the University of Duisburg-Essen. She is also a research fellow at the Centre for Research and Analysis of Migration (CReAM). Julia received her PhD in Economics from the Ruhr University Bochum in 2013.

Julia is an applied economist, mainly interested in labor economics, economics of migration, and economics of education.

She joined IZA as a Research Affiliate in March 2016 and became IZA Research Fellow in November 2021.
