Efraim Sadka (Ph.D., Massachusetts Institute of Technology, 1974) holds the Henry Kaufman Chair in International Capital Markets at Tel Aviv University. He also serves as the chairman of the board of directors of Housing and Construction Holding Co., Israel’s largest real estate and construction conglomerate.
Efraim Sadka is a co-editor of CESifo Economic Studies and of Emerald's Contributions to Economic Analysis, and a research fellow at CESifo, Munich.
Efraim Sadka served on several public committees whose recommendations were enacted into laws. Among these committees: Taxation in an Inflationary Environment (1984-1985), Health Reform (1987-1988), Pension Reform (1992-1994), Consolidation of Local Governments (1996-1998), and Direct Tax Reform (2002). He also served as chairman of the Department of Economics (1982-1985), as acting dean of The Gershon H. Gordon Faculty of Social Sciences (1986), and as director of The Sapir Center for Development (1987-1989) at Tel Aviv University. He was a member of the advisory council of the Bank of Israel (1994-1998). Efraim Sadka held appointments, on several occasions, as a visiting scholar and as a consultant at the International Monetary Fund. He also served as a visiting professor at the University of Wisconsin-Madison and at the University of Michigan and as a visiting scholar at CES, Munich.
Efraim Sadka has written numerous papers and books on public economics, international economics, population economics and the Israeli economy.

He joined IZA as a Research Fellow in February 2004.
