Saurabh Singhal is a Senior Lecturer in Economics at Lancaster University Management School. He holds a PhD in Economics from the University of Southern California, and has previously worked at the United Nations University – World Institute for Development Economics Research (UNU-WIDER) and at the University of Delhi. His research interests include human capital accumulation and labour market issues in developing countries, political economy, and experimental economics.

His current projects analyse individual and household decisions related to health and education, and how these interact with political institutions and public policies. He is closely involved with collecting primary survey, field and laboratory experimental data in India and Vietnam to study these issues. He has published papers in the Review of Economics and Statistics, European Economic Review, Journal of Development Economics and the American Journal of Agricultural Economics, among others.

He is also affiliated to the Households in Conflict Network (HiCN) and Health Economists at Lancaster (HEAL) network.

Saurabh Singhal joined IZA as a Research Fellow in June 2019.
